Villa Sol is an official hosting site for the Raincoast Conservation Foundation — a non-profit team of scientists and conservationists working to protect at-risk marine mammals on BC’s coast.
Installed beneath the deck of the property, a live camera and a hydrophone dropped 20 metres into the Malaspina Strait capture whale calls, marine life, and underwater soundscapes 24 hours a day. The technology is the first of its kind in this area, according to Raincoast scientists, and the live stream is accessible to anyone in the world at any time.
